New word every day

Daily Hangman

Everyone gets the same word today. You get one try. Solve it to keep your streak going, then share your result without spoiling the answer.

Today's word
Guesses left 8 Misses — Time 0:00

How the daily puzzle works

A new word arrives at midnight in your time zone. Each day's word is picked from a pool of more than a thousand words drawn from our category lists, all five to nine letters long and all scored as medium by our solver, so no day is a giveaway and no day needs a dictionary. The clue tells you the category.

You get one attempt. Your result, your time and your streak are saved in your browser, so there's no account to make. A streak counts days in a row that you solved the puzzle; missing a day or running out of guesses starts it again. Your fastest solve is kept too.

Sharing your result

The share button copies a short summary: the puzzle number, a row of green and red squares for your guesses left and used, your time and your streak. It never includes the word, so you can post it in a family chat or a class channel the same morning.

Using the daily word in class

The daily puzzle makes a good two-minute starter on the board: everyone in the room is solving the same word, and the category clue is a natural way into a vocabulary discussion afterwards. If you want a game for the rest of the lesson, the classroom snowman game lets you type your own word and play in two teams.

Fair play

The daily word is chosen in your browser from a fixed, shuffled order, so everyone in every time zone gets the same word on the same calendar date, and nobody can see tomorrow's word on our server because there isn't one there. Hints are allowed and are counted in your result, so a hint-free solve is worth sharing. If you clear your browser data you lose your streak, which is the price of not needing an account.
